Mission, Expectations, Tasks, and Responsibilities
Mission Statement
The Quality of Education Committee will consider a broad spectrum of quality and cost measurements for the Dresden, Hanover and Norwich schools, and will assist in annual performance reporting based on these measurements.
Expectations and Responsibilties
Members of the Quality of Education Committee should expect to attend late afternoon committee meetings scheduled roughly every 6 weeks during the school year. Each Quality of Education Committee member will be asked to read background materials in advance of each meeting, which may require up to three hours.
Outlined below are: the composition of the Quality of Education Committee and the Committee’s Mission Statement and Action Plan.
Membership
- Representatives from the Hanover and Norwich Finance Committee selected by the respective finance committees
- Parent representatives appointed by parent organizations at each school
- Teacher representatives selected by the faculties at each school
- At-large community representatives selected by the SAU Board
- One student selected by the Hanover High Council
- Board members selected by the SAU Board
Ex-officio: Superintendent, Members of Principals Council
Action Plan
- By the end of February, 2007, identify “Standards of Excellence” that can serve as the basis for multi-year performance indicators in district schools
- By the end of February, 2007, identify a means of measuring each “Standard of Excellence”
- By May 2007, prepare a report for the SAU Board recommending a set of “Standards for Excellence” at each school in the district. Wherever possible, the report will include baseline data for each measurement.
- Annually review the district’s performance on the “Standards of Excellence” and the action plans prepared by the administration in response to the results
